Hello! My name is Garon Primmer and I am the Program Director here at Hire NW. When I was blessed by the opportunity of taking this job, I knew that it would inevitably be accompanied by some aspect that I found less than ideal. I mean, it’s work after all! There must be SOMETHING about it I dislike! But, as the weeks have turned into months, I have had nothing but great days and wonderful things to report about my days of work! That is until they informed me that I was going to have to start blogging for our website. This, given the fact that for the last fifteen years writing has been limited to state and local government documents and occasionally tagging one of my daughters on Facebook (and prior to that I was certainly no Nicholas Sparks), is a bit of a frightening proposition if I’m going to be brutally honest. I don’t know how compelling it will be, but here we go!
As I mentioned, my name is Garon and I am the Director here at the Hire NW Program. I have two beautiful daughters, two funny looking dogs, and have lived in or near East Multnomah County most of my life. I am absolutely thrilled to now be working my own backyard and relish the chance I’ll get to work with the local vendors I’ve developed personal relationships with, in a capacity that can do so much good for not only our clients, but also our community. Professionally, I have been helping people to transition (in one way or another) for most of my adult life. First, on the administrative side of Elder Care, helping our greatest generation to transition into more appropriate environments for their increasing care needs, and since in the world of Vocational Rehabilitation, helping people to find and define their passion and transition onto the next stage of a meaningful working life. It has been nothing short of an honor over the past few months to get the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people and I look forward to the years and experiences to come. If there are any questions I can answer, please feel free to call, email, or just stop on in to say hi and chat a bit about what we do and how we might help you or someone you care about!
I look forward to hearing from you!
Best,
Garon Primmer
